GORUCK

How do you pronounce GORUCK? What does it mean?

go·ruck [verb go + verb ruck] noun ruck is short for rucksack (aka backpack), it’s also a verb: to ruck is to move with a rucksack, and implies action, energy, and purpose.

How and when was GORUCK founded?

GORUCK was founded in 2008 by Jason McCarthy, a Green Beret and Ohio native, with childhood best friend Jack Barley of Jacksonville, Florida. Read more here.

Does GORUCK support any charities?

GORUCK works closely with the Green Beret Foundation as well as the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. The Green Beret Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides unconventional support to wounded Green Berets, their families, and Gold Star family members. GORUCK donates gear and hosts fundraisers and events to help raise awareness for GBF. We also have recently joined forces with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, the first and largest organization for new veterans and their families. We donate all money raised at War Stories and Free Beer to IAVA and GBF. In 2014 we will be working closely with IAVA to raise money as well as encourage our military veteran participants to be leaders in their community and serve as a point of contact for veterans in their area.

How do I get my GORUCK gear repaired?

GORUCK is built to last a lifetime and gets better with time and use. Once broken in, you will not want to replace it. Think of it like your favorite pair of blue jeans. We will happily repair, free of charge, Scars earned under our standards of abuse, which are excessive. For repairs, please visit Scars Lifetime Guarantee.

How do I know which size rucksack is best for me?

What is the MOLLE webbing system?

MOLLE webbing consists of the strips of military-grade webbing at the bottom of our rucksacks and other gear. This is the same system used by our Armed Forces to customize their body armor and equipment. It allows you to securely customize your GORUCK gear with additional Field Pockets or accessories such as carabiners.

Do you have a military discount for gear?

GORUCK is proud to offer a 25% discount to all full-time former or current military, law enforcement, and fire/rescue personnel. For discounts on a Light or Challenge, go to GovX and register. For gear discounts, please email info@goruck.com and include some form of verification (a message from your official email address or a copy of an ID/documentation will do.) as well as the account you have set up on GORUCK.com. If you do not yet have an account set up, be sure to set one up first.

Do you offer any other discounts on gear?

Yes, we absolutely do. We offer a 10% discount when you are purchasing an event that is only available at the time you are signing up for this event. This discount will apply to all gear items with the exception of any bundles and kits.


GORUCK EVENTS

What are GORUCK Events?

GORUCK Events offer a slice of Special Operations training. How large a slice is up to you, from a few hours to a few days. The foundation of all GORUCK Events is the wartime experiences of our Cadre, veterans of Special Operations who are now tasked with teaching you lessons in teamwork, leadership, and communication.

What’s the point?

GORUCK bridges the gap between all walks of life: military/non-military, men/women, young/old – and our events are a positive extension of this. We strive to teach people what a team feels like, how it operates together, and why camaraderie in Special Forces is so high. In our estimation, people are good, and capable of much more when they work together, for each other. Our events are proof, but this happens only by pushing individuals beyond their limits. Our Cadre’s focus is to build a team while ensuring that those who earn the Patch know that they’ve accomplished something significant, and that they could not have done it alone.

What do I earn when I finish?

A patch and a lot of knowledge about yourself. If you want something else, GORUCK is probably not for you. Our finisher patches are not, nor will they ever will be, for sale.

Which event is right for me?

All our events are open to the public, but we recommend you start with one of our original “Good Livin’” events. You can compare them here.

Are there any health or age requirements to do an event?

Yes and no. Unfortunately, in order to participate in our events you must be 18 years old or older. You also will be required to sign a “death waiver” at the time of registration. If you want to sign your buddy up, give him/her a digital gift card.

There are no physical requirements for our events with the exception of Selection, though we do recommend that you speak to a physician if you are unsure about how an event will affect your health. The PT standards for Selection can be found here. You will be expected to pass the minimum standards in order to not be performance dropped from Selection by the Cadre.

Can I transfer my event?

You can "return" an event up to 7 days before the start date for store credit. However, Selection is non-returnable. Events are non-refundable, but you can use your store credit for gear or other events, or buy a gift card for a friend to use.

Events must be attended by the person who signed the waiver and whose name is on the roster. If you want to transfer your spot to a friend, send them a gift card or contact us.

Are there spectator tickets?

Spectator tickets are free, and there are no tickets. We are happy to have you come out and shadow, and we encourage you to take pictures and share with the class later. Just check out the event’s registration page via this list and show up at the start point. All we ask is that shadowers remain, as their name implies, a shadow. You are welcome to observe, but intoxication and/or involvement with the class and/or distracting the Cadre will result in the Cadre asking you to leave. Have you ever had a Special Operations guy ask you to do something? He's not asking.

Do you have a military discount for events?

Absolutely. We offer a 25% military/LEO/FF discount on Light and Challenge registrations via GovX.com.

How should I train for my event?

GORUCK is about Building Better Americans. Whether you want to train for an event or just get some good daily PT plans to keep your mind and body strong, we’ve got you covered on our Training blog.

We encourage everyone to train for GORUCK events, and training is best when shared with a buddy. GORUCK partners with local gyms in order to give participants a place to meet up and train. Check out the links on your event page to see if there are gyms in your area. If you own a gym and are interested in becoming a partner, please contact us.

I own a gym/training facility. How can we work together?

We’ve found partnering with local gyms/training facilities extremely beneficial to both sides, and we’re always happy to cross-promote. Please contact us.

I want a GORUCK Event to come to my town on a specific date. Can you do this?

GORUCK can do anything. We’re happy to organize a Custom Class. For something even more tailored to your group (i.e. businesses, teams, etc.) check out GORUCK Solutions.


Order Status & Shipping

Where does GORUCK gear ship from?

Our shipping facility is located in Seattle, WA. We have a dedicated team of employees who work hard to run Quality Control, shipping, and returns from this location.

How and when will my order arrive?

We ship FedEx Ground orders from our facility within 1-3 business days of your purchase, after which you should expect FedEx to take up to 5-7 additional business days to deliver your package. All packages ship from our Seattle warehouse, so for FedEx Ground orders please keep in mind that your order may have to travel a longer distance to reach you. For domestic orders over $100, your gear will ship free with FedEx Ground. You can upgrade to FedEx 2Day Express or FedEx Overnight during the checkout process. Shipping is free for international orders over $500 ($400 for Canada.) GORUCK ships with FedEx, so in order to receive your gear quickly please provide a residential or business address instead of a P.O. box. GORUCK ships to APO, FPO, and DPO addresses using USPS Priority Mail, which is offered to our customers free of charge. When entering one of these addresses be sure to select United States as your country to avoid having to pay our International shipping rates. International customers will be responsible for any potential duties and fees charged by the destination country; these are not included in the order total.

How do I check my order status?

You can log into your account and check out the order to see whether or not it has shipped. You will receive an email with tracking information as soon as the shipping label has been printed for your order. However, the tracking number will not begin to display information until FedEx has completed the initial scan of your package.

Can I return or exchange my gear?

We accept returns or exchanges within 30 days of purchase if the gear is in like-new condition. Log in to your account and submit a return request electronically. If you did not create an account with your order, fill out the form here and include it with the gear as well as the original receipt/order confirmation information if possible.
