Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size A ruck plate is so much better than bricks. This plate fit perfectly in the hydration sleeve of a small pack (Direct Action Dust) and doesn't slide or clunk around. Even with an additional 15 lb dumbbell, there's room in the rest of the pack for other stuff -- I need the space to carry groceries, laptop, or whatever during walking commutes and errands, and no one suspects that I've got 45 lbs in such a small pack. Carrying weight regularly is great training for backpacking; I need the extra workout to prep for high altitude. When I get up to 50 lbs I'll probably buy a 20 lb plate to replace the dumbbells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile tool for tough-as-nails training I love this ruck plate! The dense, compact weight is perfect for putting into a ruck or pack that is beefy enough to handle the weight. I find that I am much more mobile and comfortable moving while this is the weight in my GoRuck GR1. It is also great out of the pack. Perfect handles for dumbell/kettlebell style lifts or complex whole-body lifts like overhead weighted lunges or thrusters. Get two plates and do extended farmer carries. The square handles build grit! My only issue is not with the plate, but with my inability to figure out how to use the cinch system that holds the plate in place in the pocket of the GR1. I was doing some mixed rucking one night and did some burpees with the plate in and it slid forward several times and once hit the back of my head as I went into the plank portion of the burpee. The plate has stayed very secure in every other situation, and I think there is likely a simple step I'm missing to ensure the plate doesn't slide up and down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit, well balanced and comfortable I completed a GR Challenge a few years back with a brick block. Yes, it was cheap. Yes, I had fun taping bricks together. Yes, it worked just fine. That said, I wish I had the option to buy a ruck weight for that event. Having the plate fit perfectly in a GR-1 without taking up a ton of volume would have been far more comfortable, and I wouldn't have spent all night fussing with a load that slid all over my pack, whacking me in the head during bear crawls and other good times. If you have the money, and/or you plan to ruck it up on a regular basis, I'd go ahead and spring for the plate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a 30lb metal slab A big improvement over hauling 3 ten pound landscaping blocks in my Rucker. No more jostling and it fits great inside the plate pocket. Of course after about 5 miles on a 90 degree day I want to dump it out on to the trail all the same...
