Join, or Die.

Join, or Die.

“JOIN, OR DIE.” began as Ben Franklin’s warning, in 1754, during the French and Indian War — an argument made to the colonists and the British crown in support of the unification of the colonies against the French. Instead, Britain saw a unified America as a threat — and sent its own armies. The colonists repurposed this symbol, the first viral political image in our nation’s history, as a symbol of our unity against British rule in the prelude to the Revolutionary War.

Loyalties had shifted with new realities (DEFY is the GORUCK Tribe theme of the month) and Ben Franklin’s words remain as true as ever. Unification is hard work, some will inevitably see it as a threat, and it’s always worth fighting for. JOIN, OR DIE.
