Leave No One

The Latin phrase Nemo Resideo - translation “leave no one behind'' - has been around ever since soldiers have fought battles. It’s included in the U. S. Army; Ranger; and Airman Creed at every level. Stretching from my earliest days as a Green Beret in Vietnam to Mogadishu that same creed has been echoed in every unit I’ve been in when going to battle - we will never leave a comrade on the battlefield, alive or dead. While each unit has perhaps said it a little bit differently, it’s been condensed to the very succinct phrase - “leave no one”.
