October Rucking Challenge
GORUCK is excited to team up with the United War Veteran’s Council. The UWVC’s mission is to honor and support America’s veterans. The UWVC Health and Wellness program is focused on providing “at risk” veterans suffering from a multitude of issues including PTSD, TBI, drug addiction, and legal complications with holistic and therapeutic experiences including equine therapy, horseback riding lessons/riding therapy, art, sailing and social fitness/rucking. Over the past 3 years they've had over 3,000 positive veteran engagements through the program.
Join us in supporting them by pledging miles and participating in our interactive rucking challenge. Choose from 4 levels: 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles. If you pledge 100 miles, you have the opportunity to honor a veteran on a digital billboard that will be displayed in New York City during the end of October.
How it Works
Pledge Miles by Ordering Your Patch
Pick from the 4 options and order your patch. Your donation amount is based on the number of miles you want to do.
Ruck Your Miles
Starting October 1, you're on the honor system to complete the miles. If you're new to rucking we recommend start with 20 lbs.
Get Your Patch
Once the challenge has ended in October, you will be rewarded for all your hard work. Patches will ship out during the month of November. We will be in touch once they ship out.
The mission of the United War Veterans Council is to honor and serve America’s veterans.

WHAT IS RUCKING?
RUCK•ING [VERB] Walking with a weighted rucksack (aka backpack). Rucking implies action, energy, and purpose. Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training and can be done at any weight. Learn more about rucking here.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUCK?
A virtual ruck is a rucking event that you do on your own time, at your own pace, anywhere you want. We recommend you find some friends or a local Ruck Club to share your miles with.
WHAT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE?
You only need 3 things to start rucking: a ruck aka backpack, some water, and your weight. When in doubt, start with 20 lbs. It’s better with friends and dogs and you can do it anywhere with anyone no matter their ability, or yours.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Participating in the #RuckingChallenge and the patch you earn upon completion is FREE.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T FINISH MY MILES?
You're on the honor system so that part's up to you.
WHAT’S A RUCK CLUB?
The mission of GORUCK Ruck Clubs is to inspire, promote, and support rucking and strengthen communities through rucking. A club in your area may be anything from a gym to a local crew, but all with the same goal - smiles and miles. Find your local Ruck Club here.
WHAT’S A CADRE?
GORUCK Cadre are rucking experts. They are all decorated combat Veterans of Special Operations who have served America, and Americans, honorably across the globe. Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training and Green Berets are well versed in shouldering heavy rucks through cities, mountains, jungles and deserts, in war and in peace -- alone when they must, together whenever possible.
