Radio Ruck, a GORUCK Classic

One of our original rucks, the Radio Ruck takes inspiration from the size of the primary radio used by Special Forces. While being shorter, it maintains the same 21L capacity as GR1 with added depth and width. Radio Ruck is versatile in its day adventure use, and protects a laptop with confidence.

PRIMARY FEATURES

Laptop Compartment
Your laptop costs $2,000, that's why we made the best and toughest bag ever built. The separate compartment next to your back is extra reinforced to securely take a laptop into combat. And you can get it in and out easily.
Silent Zipper Pulls
YKK zippers with silent, glove friendly zipper pulls constructed from parachute 550 cord. There is no good reason why zippers pulls should make noise when rucking (or assaulting). Ours don't.
Molle Attachments
2 rows of external and internal MOLLE webbing, including side MOLLE sized to fit MOLLE friendly accessories.
Rainproof
By military-spec submersion tests, waterproof means you could repeatedly submerge something and its contents would stay entirely dry. Our rucks are highly water resistant aka rainproof.
Multiple Pockets
Three internal pockets: one large elastic pocket, one large mesh zippered pocket and one small go-to zippered pocket. External slant pocket provides quick access to keys, snacks, and other small items.
2" x 3" VELCRO
Allows you to customize your GR1 with the patch of your choice.
Extra Padded Straps and Handle
Shoulder straps and top handle are extra padded to carry heavier loads more comfortably.
Opens Flat
Easy to pack and organize. Special Forces medical rucks share a similar design.
Ruck Plate Compatible
10 LB, 20 LB Expert, & 30 LB Expert Ruck Plates work great in the laptop compartment. Though not secured down, the 20 LB Long, 30 LB Long, & 45 LB Ruck Plates fit in the large internal elastic pocket.
Hydration Port
Exit port for hydration bladder tube is found under the top handle of the ruck.
False Bottom
We built a false bottom in the bombproof laptop compartment so that when you set your ruck down, your laptop won't even notice. This adds labor to the build of the ruck, but it's necessary for max function.

Radio Ruck Origins

Radio Ruck_Jav Radio Ruck, the original pictured here with Java in the summer of 2009 in the great Southern town of Oxford, Mississippi, is back. We thought way back when that it was better to have the Echo be much smaller than GR1, which it is. The Radio Ruck seemed too close to GR1 at the time, but we’ve gotten a lot of requests for something a little smaller than GR1 and bigger than the Echo, so here is it, the Radio Ruck. The name Radio Ruck. Usually, one of us just starts calling something by a certain name and it sticks. Nothing scientific about it. We named Radio Ruck because I thought it should be roughly the size of the primary radio I used in Special Forces with a little more room for this or that, like spare batteries. The black radio pictured in the foreground was this sizing inspiration and is called the PSC-5 (actually people call it the Piss-5). I'm pictured in the background with some of my aircraft controller school classmates in Arizona in 2007.
