GORUCK’s OG Tac Hat is one of our four original products, proven by Special Forces Cadre since 2010 in all 50 states and all over the world in some of the harshest conditions imaginable.

Since the beginning, like all GORUCK gear we built this Cadre Tac Hat from the ground up, with our patterns and our Specs + Materials using 500D CORDURA on the main panels and military-grade mesh on the sides — to let a little breeze in, which is really nice in an Iraqi, and a Florida summer. There is no button on the top. This is intentional. There’s nothing to get in the way when you’re wearing hearing protection, and if you’ve ever got kids jumping all over you — it hurts less when they don’t have a button to hit into the top of your skull (IYKYK).

  • Velcro-friendly fabric underbill provides additional space for patches or useful items.
  • Adjustable Velcro Garage: Features a single, thinner 3” Velcro strap for a streamlined fit without the bulk or flapping of excess Velcro. The garage is attached to an elastic tab, allowing for better adjustability, comfort, and a more secure fit.
  • Hat Sizing: 7 1/4 smallest size and adjustable up to 7 5/8. Same fit as the Performance Tac Hat (57.5cm).
  • The top button: we removed it because it serves no purpose and it hurts when you wear Peltors or other hearing protection.

bit disappointed with the quality

"bit disappointed with the quality (cap + patch) not as I expected based as shown in the photos should have provided note. items may vary on actual. with price range. I can get branded quality cap. should have raise the bar a bit higher considering this is a American brand with military background. customer have higher expectations even it was made somewhere else. maybe I missed the point of usage of abusing this on the field with sand, salt water, mud, dust and others but I better prefer to hand it over to someone and get a better one."

"Purchased one years ago in black (GR TAC). Much more robust and sturdy, not to mention much better fit, this one has an odd crown. Glad I still have my old one. Just not the same."

Quality diminished

"When I saw this make a comeback I was excited. Years of hunting the second hand marker for an overpriced replacement I thought I won the lottery. I had an original tac hat from GoRuck and the thing lasted nearly a decade. The material was significantly thicker, the crown of cap was lower profile which was great for ear pro. This hat has a much thinner material. GORUCK makes solid products but this was definitely a major flop it’s basically the Temu version of the OG tac hat. Sad to see the quality go down the drain for 35$ hat."
