INSPIRING STORIES OF SERVICE
If there is a nobler calling than to serve others - your loved ones, your community, our nation - we’ve not yet found it, nor do we expect to. Service First stories draw upon our roots in Special Forces and feature those serving all across America — not for personal gain and least of all for profit — instead, because they heard the call to service, and they answered it. #ServiceFirst
SERVICE FIRST STORY 004: As A Team
Firefighters are pillars of our communities, and our way of life, and over a million firefighters in America stand ready to serve you and your community whenever you need them. It was our honor to capture a day in the life of training new recruits at the Alameda Fire Department in Oakland, California. Our long time friend and GORUCK Selection finisher Paige Bowie is the Training Captain and we focused on her team and how they put Service First.
SERVICE FIRST STORY 003: A Dog Named Leia
There’s plenty of examples to suggest that Veterans are, and can be some of the most productive members of society - the transition just takes a little bit of time. And the way that we change the thinking of the American people, all of us, is one human story, one human interaction at a time. Sometimes, that means you need a dog like Leia to share the journey with you.
SERVICE FIRST STORY 002: SWAT
More training leads to more confidence. More confidence leads to a greater likelihood for non-violent outcomes. This is true in war as a Special Forces Soldier. It’s true as a Law Enforcement Officer. And we at GORUCK want to use our experiences for good.
SERVICE FIRST STORY 001: STOP THE BLEEDING
Dr. Spencer Guinn is one of the co-founders of Stop the Bleeding Foundation, which runs training seminars/classes nationwide. He served in Iraq as a Combat Surgeon, is an MD Orthopaedic Surgeon in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and frequently runs humanitarian medical/aid missions in places like Colombia, treating locals and providing training to America’s partner forces.
Those who believe America’s best days lie behind us aren’t looking in the same places we are. If you know someone we should feature as a Service First story, let us know.
