Best Vest to Test
"This is an excellent vest. I rucked 20 miles in downtown Austin, Texas with the 30 pound Achilles vest this past weekend. It’s comfortable, gives relief to the shoulders, and molds to the body. I give my highest recommendation."

The Achilles was engineered from the ground up specifically for a broader, masculine frame. It features a streamlined profile that locks down against your torso, distributing weight evenly across your shoulders and core. It rides high by design, it doesn’t chafe, and it won't back down.
The Achilles comes pre-weighted in 20LB and 30LB, so you're choosing your training load up front. If you're new to weighted training or want a vest you can wear for longer rucks and higher-rep workouts, start with the 20LB. If you already train under load and want more challenge across full-body movements, go 30LB. When in doubt, start at 20LB and build a serious base before you step up.
His and hers. The Spy Ruck is the women's version, contoured for a woman's frame with weighted shoulder straps. The Achilles is built and designed for a male frame - broad shoulders, a masculine build, and a fit that locks down tight to a bigger torso. If you've been borrowing a women's vest, this is the one that was actually built for you.
Different tools. The Rucker is a rucksack you load up with Ruck Plates and carry on your back. The Achilles is a weight vest you strap on and go - the weight's already built in, balanced front and back, hugging your torso so it rides tight and stable while you move, run, and train.
Both ride high and tight with an adjustable front-and-back cummerbund, a removable patch, and our SCARS Lifetime Guarantee - and both cover the full range of training, from rucking and walking to HIIT, CrossFit, MURPH, running, and everyday wear. The real difference is how you load them.
The Achilles comes pre-weighted in 20LB or 30LB with a universal one-size fit built for a male frame. It's ready out of the box - no plates, no setup, just don it and go - which makes it the simplest pick.
The Rucking Weight Vest is adjustable. It carries GORUCK Curved Ruck Plates in 14, 20, or 30 lb, so you can change your load as you progress, and it adds a front phone/pocket holder. It comes in L/XL and M/S sizes.
Bottom line: choose the Achilles for grab-and-go simplicity built for men; choose the Rucking Weight Vest if you want to adjust your weight on the fly and carry your phone up front.
The Achilles is a universal one size and you dial in the fit from the back. The front straps connect simply - one side has the pull tabs, the other doesn't - and you fine-tune using the back. If it's a little too loose, tighten it in the back; if it's a little too tight, loosen it in the back. Stack the adjustment, close it up, re-don the vest, and pull it snug. Snug, not strangling - you want it locked to your body, not cutting off your air.
You can breathe. The Achilles is built to ride high and lock tight to your body without restricting your breathing, so you can talk and move under load. The cummerbund pulls it snug across your core, and when you're done, the cummerbund handles give you a fast, easy release. Set it tight but not suffocating and it'll move with you instead of fighting you.
Comfortable. The signature shoulder straps are extra padded with dual-density foam, and the interior and underside of the straps are a Nylon Spandex Double Weave that sits soft against your skin. We took the best of what we know about next-to-skin apparel and married it to GORUCK toughness. It feels good on, stays put, and doesn't dig in or chafe - even on long miles.
Yes. The weight is balanced front and back and locked tight to your torso, so it stays stable for rucking, walking, and running. The reflective spearhead and GORUCK logo keep you visible in low light when you're out early or after dark. Don it and do the miles.
All of them - rucking, walking, HIIT, CrossFit, MURPH, running, and everyday wear. Ruck in it, train in it, knock out push-ups and full-body work in it. It adds resistance to everything, so your training does more in less time. Ruck the dog, hit a workout, log the miles - you make it yours.
No. The Achilles comes pre-weighted and ready out of the box - the weight is built in, so there are no plates to buy and nothing to load. Just dial in the fit and go. (If you want to adjust your weight by swapping plates, check out the Rucking Weight Vest)
Absolutely. There's no MOLLE webbing all over it and no tactical bulk - it's clean enough to wear anywhere. Throw a jacket over it and run errands, wear it around the house, train in it, or ruck the dog.
The exterior is 420D Robic, and the interior and shoulder-strap underside are a soft Nylon Spandex Double Weave. The weight itself is odorless, coated steel pellets - not loose sand or cheap iron - which is why the Achilles is anti-odor and anti-rust by design. Too many cheap vests rust on the inside or smell toxic out of the box. No chemical smell, no rust, no shortcuts - just next-to-skin comfort and tactical toughness built to last.
Hose it down with plain water and let it air dry. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and a soft brush. Never put it in a washing machine or dryer - that will damage the padding and materials.
If you break it, we fix it. If there is a defect in workmanship or you manage to wear it out, we will repair or replace it free of charge. No receipt is necessary. We stand behind our gear for life.

"This is an excellent vest. I rucked 20 miles in downtown Austin, Texas with the 30 pound Achilles vest this past weekend. It’s comfortable, gives relief to the shoulders, and molds to the body. I give my highest recommendation."
"This is very comfortable. I wear it walking, running, mowing, and vacuuming. I forget that it is on. I will wear it to work as it often feels like a sweater. It wraps and does not dig in like my other vest. It is adjustable and easy to store."
"I’m a 60 year old male, 6’0, 245 and have been using the vest daily since I received it about 2 weeks ago. Fits well under the ruck and is easily snugged down during weight training so it doesn’t flop around. I’ve been rucking for about little over 2 years now- since my grandson was born- and it has made my daily life so much easier. That kid is huge and I carry him everywhere on my back or on my shoulders when I’m not chasing him around. Thanks for all you so at GoRuck! It has made a huge difference in my life."
"Incredible quality and engineering as expected from GoRuck. I have put this vest through some brutal workouts, to include a Murph, and it fits like a glove with zero mobility restrictions. Best vest I have ever dawned. The only issue/con would be that the pellets inside each linear pocket tend to compress at the bottom (gravity) leaving a significant void at the top portion of the pocket, and a rock hard bottom half of each pocket. Dividing the linear pockets into a few individual segments would keep the pellets spread loaded more evenly, which may help. Semper Fi!"
"I’ve had the Achilles vest for a little over two weeks and it is a complete game changer from the older plate style vests. It is really comfortable and evenly distributes the weight across the whole upper body. The adjustable fit system is easy to use and once dialled in, you don’t have to worry about it again. As with other Goruck products the build quality is superb - it will take a beating and come back for more. I really can’t find a fault with it."
"Love the Achilles weighted vest. I use it for daily hikes, helps get my HR up and i can feel the burn in my calves going up hill. The vest is comfortable and the weight is very balanced. Only improvements i would like to see are a pouch or slot to hold a cell phone. I added a molle panel to hold a flashlight in case i go out at night."
"This might be the most useful piece of training gear I own! This vest is comfortable, low profile, high quality! The Achilles is tough, period."
"Solid gear as always, from GoRuck. Comfortable without a shirt; stays in place during bodyweight exercises; great design on the adjustment points - mine needs to overlap to fit properly, so hooks on one side and loops on the other get it done. Great complement to my Rucker - pop that off after my morning ruck, throw on the Achilles, and get through some calisthenics. Very happy with the purchase."
"Outstanding weighted vest! I’ve had it for a week. Wore it. . . to our weekly F3 ruck; while mowing and edging; while slinging mulch; while doing a Les Mills Body Pump with my wife; while walking and spraying weeds around my yard. The fit is superb! It rides nice and high on your chest and upper back. The wide chest straps, which are adjustable in the back and the front, ensure a comfortable snug fit. Minimal bouncing while doing double time, exercising or bending and moving around. The vertical chambers holding the pellets means the vest fits and follows the contours of your body. No hot spots from metal plates or bars. Simply put…stellar, high quality product. And thanks much for the military and first responder discount!!"
"Fits like a glove, very simple, strong and straight forward. I walked 4. 5 miles with it this morning, 30 lbs, comfortable through out, no complaints at all, definitely worth the purchase price, super happy with it. All your products are amazing quality. The Achilles for me and my wife is enjoying her 8lb SpyRuck, I’m used to the Ruck plate carriers and like them a lot, vest is a different type of tool and I’m liking it."
