ToughMesh™ weighs only 100GSM (grams per square meter).
That’s 30-40% less weight than normal performance fabrics.
To make the fabric tough enough, we use nylon (then add a little stretch). The polyester version repeatedly failed our testing and cost us an extra year that we’ll never get back.
Every roll of fabric takes 6 hours to complete, using 44-gauge needles. Standard fabric takes 45 minutes and uses 20-gauge needles. Quality takes time.
Mini-perforations are woven into the fabric to increase airflow, speed up dry time, and decrease weight. They’re small and mighty but do not dominate the shirt's aesthetic.
Antimicrobial treatment is added into the fibers themselves, before the fabric is woven in Italy. This process ensures a significantly longer lifespan of odor resistance across repeated washings. Lesser fabrics are simply “coated” after they’re milled - which wears off in just a few cycles of a high-powered washing machine.
UPF 35 (this provides 97%+ coverage) to protect your skin from the sun.
Off-the-shoulder seams remove friction while wearing a ruck - which we hope you do often.

This is my second sun
"This is my second sun hoodie. I think this one is even better than the previous one, with same lightness while feeling more solid and not wrinkling as easily. It still packs down to nothing (you could probably stuff it inside a shoe if you really wanted to). It does what it says when protecting from the sun, though I still recommend pairing with a hat or face sunscreen, as the hood doesn't come very far forward. I took an ATV ride through the jungle while wearing the hoodie, and it protected my skin from the brunt of the burs and thorns. I picked a ton of stickers out of the sleeves afterward, and there was no lasting damage to the garment."

Truly durable and comfortable
"I’ve had many technical shirts for hot weather. Hands down this is the best. I ended up getting all the colors and some for friends. It’s withstood Velcro snags and laying on sandpaper while trying to work in tight spaces. No snags or runs. Easy to quick hand wash and dry in an hour. "I have tried many different sun hoodies. I live in the desert southwest. This Toughmesh hoodie is the best there is. The nylon is awesomely durable, and the breathability is astounding. I searched and searched for the holy grail of sun hoodies. . . This is it! IMPROVEMENTS: GoRuck, please, Please, PLEASE, make this shirt in lighter colors for us desert dwellers. I don't know, maybe wearing black in the summer is fine in Florida, but where it gets 115 degrees, dark colors do not work. I know its a branding thing also, but please! A desert tan, or FDE/coyote would be wonderful. Also, it would be incredible if you marketed an orange and/or red one for Search and Rescue use! Please, for philanthropy? I used to wear the Outdoor Research orange hoodie until they discontinued it. . . the GoRuck Toughmesh blows it out of the water. It is twice as breathable. I just need it in our approved color. Lastly, please don't add in polyester. . . I'd have to stop wearing this amazing hoodie."
