The one ruck I've used them on so far, was 45 F° and raining, and these guys kept me warm, and when I got in the car were pretty much dry. I'm a size 30-32 which is right in the middle of sizes and got the small, which fits a little tight, so I'd size up. But despite the price, and it being a little bit on the tighter size these are my absolute favorite pair of pants I own and are phenomenal pants for hiking, rucking, or outdoors activity.
