Picked this up on a whim
"Which is unlike me but man am I loving this thing. It just came so I’m one my third day of using it - I love the classic look of it and I suspect the canvas material is going to look twice as great the more it’s broken in. It falls right into that “perfect” messenger bag size. It’s big enough to it doesn’t look silly but small enough that it is truly a messenger bag and not a backpack with one strap. So happy about this purchase."

Great for work travel
"Great item. Compact, but holds everything I need for meetings during the day. If you were curious, holds my M2 14" Macbook Pro no problem. Great as a personal item while traveling too. I feel like the shoulder strap sometimes sits funny but i just turn it a half twist and it's fine. Recommending it to friends."

Heritage Backpack Claymore Sling
"I love the heritage line My heritage backpack GR2 while pricey is the finest I have ever owned The workmanship and quality are outstanding Same for the Claymore I wish it were a little bit bigger but again the quality is top notch"

Similar to the early 1980s Israeli commando bag
"High quality in the usual Goruck ways (design, stitching, fabric choice, product execution, etc. ). The Claymore Sling Bag reminds me of the Israeli commando sling bag from the early 1980s, which gave me over 35 years of semi-hard, active use. The Claymore appears to be of the same build quality. The size is slightly smaller than I estimated, but holds IFAK gear, several mags, writing pad, and electronic equipment. Not sure about the plastic buckles; we'll see. The adjustable shoulder strap is effective and allows for a good fit for several body types. Black Friday price allowed the purchase, without which would not have occurred. So far, a good performer for an everyday satchel. Perfect color. Love its heritage. Cheers."

Modest bag
"GoRuck creates bags that exceed my imagination. They reset my standard for what a bag should be, can do. The Claymore Sling Bag is a more modest effort and breaks with that tradition. The plastic clips are simultaneously overkill and apt to break over time. A lighter, more durable fastener is more appropriate - make a bag that is easy to access several times an hour while being distracted. Also, the clips are more centrally located so the flap edges crease over when the bag is tossed in a car or piled with other bags. The shoulder strap has plastic components and the strap itself gets flipped inside out as the brackets allow space for strap twisting. The side pockets aren't tight enough so smaller items move around, sometimes out. I have repeatedly picked up pens, keys that fell out when the bag is tilted on an angle. I lost my ATM card - it was in the bag and now it is not. I'm buying smaller bags to put into those pockets to avoid losing more stuff. Positives are that the bag stitching and materials is typical GoRuck overkill and thank goodness for that! The zipper on the big pocket is top quality. The bag is a perfect size for field and office work - ipad, scheduler, journal, and basic supplies can be located quickly and efficiently. There is so much to be excited about here. I have used claymore bags in the past. I don't remember, but i think there were subtle shifts in the bag's design. GoRuck is brilliant for adapting the bag for civilian usage, it is just not completely there yet. I am a Goruck zeolot. Nothing changes that. But when the Claymore Sling Bag II comes out. . . I'll be one of the first to order it. My personal experience leads me to believe the Claymore Sling Bag in its current form is a work in progress."

All is great except… slide buckle
"Was in the military before so having this iconic gear was a must. Got it together with my GR1 (another review!) and the package came in without fuss. The construction is great, love the whole thing… except for the slide buckle which is strangely inwards. Requires a strap twist to make the buckle fit right. Checked with a couple of friends and theirs had the same issue too. There was even an article on it in Feb 2023. Cost of sending it back may be too high than going to a surplus shop to fix it. So hopefully this buckle design issue can be rectified for future customers. Thanks for reading. 😊"

Perfect grab bag for the small things that don't fit or want in your pockets
"This is a great man's bag; I use it for the stuff I need daily that does not fit in my pockets. It is perfect for my iPad and charges a few grab-and-go things. The 2 decided pockets are perfect"

Does everything I needed it
"Does everything I needed it to do. It’s a simple design but sleek at the same time. Already have gotten compliments on the material and craftsmanship. The only thing I wish it had would be a pouch in the inside of the flap, regardless I will be getting many years of use out of it."

Great but
"The products are great but i have no luck. When i bought my Rucker a new model with dual weight pockets came out 2 weeks later and when I bought the claymore bag it went on major sale 2 weeks later. Ill keep buying Goruck cause the quality is amazing just hope the dice roll in my favour next time."
