RUCK YOUR DOG FOR PETS FOR PATRIOTS
This month’s #RuckingChallenge is the Ruck Your Dog Virtual Fundraiser benefiting Pets for Patriots. Ruck Your Dog is about getting some quality miles under a ruck with one of your best friends in the world (encouraged, but not required to participate) - all while supporting a cause that helps veterans and shelter pets. It’s good for you, good for your pet, good for everyone.
You pick the distance you want to pledge (5K, 10 mi, 25 mi, 50 mi, 75 mi, 100 mi) and complete your miles during the month of March. Your donation amount is based on the distance you pledge to ruck.
You can still earn your FREE March #RuckingChallenge patch by choosing the 5k distance. T-shirts are also for sale with all proceeds benefiting Pets for Patriots. Additionally, you can donate directly to Pets for Patriots here.
Starting March 1, you have the entire month of March to complete the miles you pledged. You choose the weight (we recommend 20-30 lbs). Don’t forget to tag all your social media posts with #RuckYourDog #RuckingChallenge so we can keep up with all the action.
Mid-April you will be rewarded for completing your miles and all patches and tees will be shipped. Shipping and handling fees for patches cover overhead and the cost of the patch in addition to shipping and GORUCK will select the most economical shipping option to maximize the proceeds going to Pets for Patriots. Please note that Charity preorders are non-returnable and non-refundable.
Pets For Patriots gives the gifts of fidelity, joy and love to both veteran and pet through companion animal adoption. Their mission is like no other because they are serving the men and women of the most extraordinary military of the most exceptional nation in the world.
Everything Pets For Patriots does is with a vision to end animal homelessness in the United States while giving military veterans and their families the greatest “thank you” of all: the extraordinary love of a companion pet.
February's challenge was 1 mile per day, for all 28 days straight. Hide the Miles. Each week, you had to add more weight (you pick) to your rucksack. Still need to redeem your patch? Order here.
JANUARY: Resolution Ruck
We started with year off strong with the challenge to do 50 miles in 15 days. Almost 6,000 Ruckers completed the challenge for a total of 30,000 miles. Check out photos from #RESOLUTIONRUCK.
WHAT IS RUCKING?
RUCK•ING [VERB] Walking with a weighted rucksack (aka backpack). Rucking implies action, energy, and purpose. Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training and can be done at any weight. Learn more about rucking here.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUCK?
A virtual ruck is a rucking event that you do on your own time, at your own pace, anywhere you want. We recommend you find some friends or a local Ruck Club to share your miles with.
WHAT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE?
You only need 3 things to start rucking: a ruck aka backpack, some water, and your weight. When in doubt, start with 20 lbs. It’s better with friends and dogs and you can do it anywhere with anyone no matter their ability, or yours.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Participating in the #RuckingChallenge and the patch you earn upon completion is FREE. All we ask is that you invite 3 friends who might like to ruck with you.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T FINISH MY MILES?
You're on the honor system so that part's up to you. Claiming your patch at the end of the challenge is completely FREE, but you'll know if you didn't finish and that's no way to start 2019.
DO MY FRIENDS NEED TO FINISH FOR ME TO GET MY PATCH?
No, your friends do not need to finish their miles or even sign up for you to earn your patch. We just know rucking is better together and want to encourage you to spread the good word.
WHAT’S A RUCK CLUB?
The mission of GORUCK Ruck Clubs is to inspire, promote, and support rucking and strengthen communities through rucking. A club in your area may be anything from a gym to a local crew, but all with the same goal - smiles and miles. Find your local Ruck Club here.
WHAT’S A CADRE?
GORUCK Cadre are rucking experts. They are all decorated combat Veterans of Special Operations who have served America, and Americans, honorably across the globe. Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training and Green Berets are well versed in shouldering heavy rucks through cities, mountains, jungles and deserts, in war and in peace -- alone when they must, together whenever possible.
WHAT IF I'VE GOT MORE QUESTIONS?
